The Sophomore Cross Country team grasped the SCVAL crown with a perfect record of I2 wins, no losses. Sophomores Tom Brassell, Mike Kennedy. Glenn Thompson, Jan Remak, Randy Stahl, and Roger Stanger placed in the SCVAL All-league team. Named as having the best Soph team time in the nation with SOD8, they also scored a new school record. The Soph compiled an over-all record of 6I wins and I loss. in the SCVAL, they were ranked as sl in the nation! With a league record of I I wins and I loss, the Frosh also posted an overall record of 57 wins, 4 losses. Receiving individual laurels, Rob Macrae reigned as individual league champion and Freshmen Darson Faber, Jim Brisco, and Rob Macrae obtained posi- tions in the SCVAL All-league. Thoman National Record Holders: Dave Sanford, Jack Christianson, Mike Ferguson Tom Brassell, and Paul Gaesser l 'H' For the year of I967, the Varsity Cross Country team captured what seemed to be an endless number of titles. The five-man ten-mile team of Dave Sanford, Jack Christianson. Mike Ferguson. Tom Brassell, and Paul Gaesser set a new national high school record of 4804. quite an outstanding achievement. Seizing the SCVAL championship, the Varsity team ended the season with a record of I2 wins, no losses and an overall record of 62 wins, 2 losses. Not restricting competition to the area. Homestead's Cross Country team won the Region II meet at Vasona Park. They also placed Ind in the Central Coast Section and ranked 2nd in the nation. Homestead's Varsity team included Dave Sanford, Jack Christianson, Mike Ferguson. Steve Flynn. and Paul Gaesser in the SCVAL All-league team. Additional hon- ors went to Dave Sanford and Jack Christianson, making the lst team in All-northern California. Mike Ferguson represented the 2nd team while Paul Gaesser ranked with honorable mention. The team elected Dave Sanford. having the fastest senior time in the nation, as most valuable player and scholar-athlete.
