Wilt' if From the Los Altos victory to the Awalt triumph, Homestead's varsity football team never stopped fight- ing-or winning. Coach Ron Useldinger's sturdy squad completed the I967-68 season with a 9 win no loss record to gain the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League championship, bringing honor to the team, to Home- stead, and to the individual players. Mr. Useldinger attributes the success of the team to the dedication of a group of young men to plant Home- stead's first Varsity Football Championship Flag in the S.C.V.A.L. , and to the hard work of the coaching staff. ln establishing their undefeated season, the team scored 322 points as compared to only 32 for the opposition. The most significent game of the season was the opener against Los Altos, in which the Mustangs defeated the Vikings for the first time in Homestead's history, by a score of 37-O. ln addition to the S.C.V.A.L. championship, the Home- stead team was rated number one in Northern California throughout the season. Also, twelve players were named to the All League team and two to the Honorable Mention team a new league record.
