In the years immediately ahead, the educational require- ments for better jobs will steadily increase. Procuring a job and the ability to hold it and advance will depend increasingly on the type and amount of education and vocational training possessed by the young person entering the labor market. New developments in the professions, in automation, in elec- tronics, and precision machinery will accelerate the trend toward more jobs for the educated and the skilled, and correspondingly fewer opportunities for the unskilled. Be ready for opportunity.
