1X Junior Class News In the fall of 1953, a group of sixteen Freshmen entered the doors of Homer-Union ten from Ringgoldg six from Mountville---followed shortly by Dorothy Powers from Columbus The Freshmen Class offlcers were Sam Kasler Presldent Florence Plerce V1ce Presldent Shella Ray Secretary Treasurer Llnda Smith News Reporter and Mr Bankes Class Advlsor Each member of the class pald one dollar class dues Sam Kasler Fred Bolyard and Ilm Thompson were on the Iumor Hlgh basketball team and Shella Ray served as a Iunlor Hlgh cheerleader As Sophomores they came back wlthout Dorothy Powers and lost Patty Reeves at Chrlstmas but galned Ph1ll1p Pettlt and Verna Nolan The class offlcers were Rosemary Hambel Presldent Shella Ray V1ce Presldent Sam Kasler Secretary Treasurer Pattl Norman News Reporter and Mlss Brown class advlsor Freddle Bolyard Sam Kasler Iames Thompson and Phllllp Pettlt played on the basketball team wlth Llnda McLa1n and Florence Plerce as varslty cheerleaders The class of seventeen had dwlndled to fourteen members ln thelr Iuruor year ln cludlng two rew students Joyce Barton from Barberton and Herbert Scott from Columbus The offlcers were Florence Plerce Presldent Rosemary Hambel Vlce Presldent Llnda McLa1n Secretary Herbert Scott Treasurer Pattl Norman News Reporter and Mr Byers class adV1 sor They ordered thelr rlngs November 16 The hlghllght of the year was the play Strlke Three Shetla Ray helped the Senlors as a member of their play cast Sam Ilm and Herb were on the varslty basketball team whxle the class boasted of three cheerleaders Florence Plerce Lmda McLa1n and Joyce Barton The class workmg very hard entertalned the Senlors wlth a banquet Jumor Play vi'

I.T. Vlckroy, Gary Cooley, Roger Kasler, Ilm Duncan, Ronald Sands, and Rodney Plerce played on the Iunlor Hlgh basketball team. Emerla Van Horn was one of the cheer leaders ' In the Freshman year Ilm Duncan was the wlnner of the Actlvrtles Medal and Davld Jones won the Scholarshlp Medal. They started the Sophomore year wlth the same students and garned Dalton Mllls 1n December whlch made a total of flfteen. They elected officers as follows I.T. Vlckroy, Presldent, I1m Duncan, Vlce Presldent Mary Ray, Secretary Treasurer, Davld Iones, News Reporter, and Mlss Brown as class advrsor. LT.
