IN MEMORIAM JOHN SMITH 1928-1970 John Smith, a man we all admired and respected, died unexpectedly following a farm accident early in September, 1970. His pleasing manner, loyalty to all causes regarding the school and community, plus his enthusiastic approach to all things he believed in, will be long remembered. John was a family man, devoted to the welfare of his children and extremely interested in providing the best school possible for all children. He was a business man in every respect and. as such, was a very valuable member of the Homer Community School Board of Education. His planning was for the future as well as the present. A graduate of Homer High School and Michigan State University and a former teacher; he was an educator at heart. John’s interests in agriculture did not end at his farm, but extended to county and state levels. In short, his willingness to serve made him a very busy young man and leaves a vacancy very hard to fill. 16 by Harriet Schaberg
