Allchildren in the grades, Kindergarten through the Sixth, parti- cipated in this afternoon event at the C ommunity House. Preceding the program, a group of Boy Carolers, from the fourth grades, sang to the parents as they arrived. Dialogue for the play was written by the grades. The characters were chosen from the elementary student body. A chorus of fifty children were chosen to sing in the cathedral scene of the play. Their songs included Angels We Have Heard on High, old French carolg Oh, Holy Night, Adams, and The Birthday of a King, Neid- linger. Other songs throughout the program were the old familiar Christmas carols. This program, one of the finest of our school year, was in charge of Mrs. .Toan Wagoner, head of our elementary music de- partment. She was assisted by all the elemen- tary teachers. 56 Walter Bearman Ahce Butters Freddxe Butters Robert Cascare1l1 Helen Chamberlaln Bobby Craven Warner Green Beverly Gregg W1ll1am Hammontree Harry Hartle M11dred Hartman Bruce Landls George I..ep1rd MarJor1e McCullough Nancy Norton Melvad1ne Puckett Sue Taylor Robert Wlnchell EdW1n Wood onald Berry Nancy Blalr Mlchael Bradley Barbara Butters W1ll1am Butters I obert Chamberla1n ene Densmore I oberta Dobbs Juanlta Hackworth Mary Lee Herr1ck W11l1am James W1ll1am Koons Lorene McDowell Joyce M1chael r1th Macomber l1ce Newland Larry Peters h1rley R1ce Lou1s Rockwell I aul1ne Slagle artha Steeby Leo Tesch atr1c1a W11laert BSENT Doyle Comb Bobby Macomber Colleen Moore Ruth Ne1tzke 11- L... L n. 1 5 '-L .FT -lx -Q' 0 ' o. E, -'L We teachers feel that fifth graders should be a reliant self-governed group. By this time they should beindependent individuals, Capable of cooperating, sharing responsibilities, partic- ipating in a group situation and show qualities that make for good leadership. We continuously strive to tie our regular academic subjects together with common every- day experiences. Our room is our home for the greater part of the day and we've enjoyed many happy, and educational experiences making it attractive and pleasant. Some of our specific accomplishments this year were: projects of Mexico and the U.S. The mothers were invited to join us in the summary. They had lunch with us that day. To culminate the study of the U.S. we made a salt and flour products map. Some of us have made pen pals in England. We've made a paper movie called The History of the U.S. We have all been checked for hearing and sight. We hope we are on our way towards becom- ing good citizens and wholesome happy adults.
