Homecoming The Homecoming of l953 was a terrific successl Although it started out badly, with the Knights losing the football game, it proved to be one of the most memorable of Homer High. The coronation began at eight o'clock p.m., November ninth. The queen, Betty Georgesen, and the king, Ri chad Lund, were attired in scarlet robes lined with white satin. Their attendants selected from each class were: Mylet McFarlin and John Longwell, freshmen, Marilyn Young and Lan'y Jacobsen, sophomores, Frances Sorerieh and Robert Tighe, iuniors, and Halflfene Anderson and James Nelsen, seniors. A processional played by Nancy Harris accompanied the royalty to the throne. A welcoming address was given by Superintendent William Strausburg to the faculty, alumni, and friends. He then placed the crowns on the heads of our new queen and king of l953. After the coronation, the royalty and their attendants started the dance to a beautiful waltz played by Zean Zurcher's Orchestra. Later in the evening the dance floor was transformed into a lovely rainbow of beautiful pastel formals. lt is no wonder this was one of the greatest Homecomings in the history of Homer High. B. B..
