In late August of 1955 thirty-two new pairs of feet tread upon the floors of dear old Hon er High. We, who were the first to gradual fr ■ n the new grade school, were an apprehensive but determined group of freshr en. We got our high school careers started by electing our clas 'fficers, sponsor, and Student Council representatives. They were: President—Herb La- cey, Vice-President—Jin: Rowand, Secretary—Rene Robertson, Treasurer— Carol Block. Our Student Council representative were Hugh Clark and Carol Block and our sponsor was Mrs. Ruth Allen. Our class was well represented in the music department and in sports as well. The fall of 1956 saw 31 of our class return to be Silly Sophomores”. We kept Mrs. Allen as our sponsor, but most of the class officers changed.. Dick Smith and Herb Lacey were our Student Council representatives. Our class pres- ident was Jim Rowand, vice-president was Russell Courtney, secretary was Linda Boys, and the treasurer was Carol Block. In 1957 our number had dropped to twenty-four when the hallowed halls of Homer High opened to us as Jolly Juniors . We elected Mrs. Ross as our spon- sor, Dick Smith, our president, Rene Robertson, our vice-president, Maurine Stauter, our secretary, and Anita Place, our treasurer. The Student Council rep- resentatives this year were Jim Rowand, Herb Lacey, an:' Jack Beason. As always we were well represented in sports and club activities. What we termed the greatest event of the year was our Junior Class play, a comedy en- titled Grandad Goes Wild . Finally the great day came in the fall of 1958, nineteen of us climbed the steps of Homer High as Seniors. We picked as our sponsor Mr. Virgil Hughes, Class President—Hugh Clark, Vice-President—Jim Rowand, Secretary—Rene Robertson, and Treasurer—Anita Place. Our Student Council representatives this year were Jack Beason, Herb Lacey, and Kaye Pridemore. Dick Smith had been elected Student Council president by the whole school in the spring of las t year. We were still busy in all kinds of activities. Our football team won our homecoming game and everything was complete for the big night. We had Johnny Bruce’s Orchestra for the dance. The then.e was Moonlight and Roses , and the King and Queen dancing to the theme song were seniors Jim Rowand and Noreen Reynolds. Our class play was another comedy The Egg and F. We all enjoyed presenting it. The day finally arrived when we donned our robes and walked down the aisle to receive our diplomas, that we had been working so long to receive. After school was out, we went to the Ozarks on our senior trip. WTien we came back we were no longer a class. We each went our separate ways into the world. 11
