Class History lt was back in the year l942, when seven little tots bravely walked into the Homer Schoolhouse. Mrs. Max Hisey Knee Lola Kiplingerj greeted each one by name. Patricia Lenz, Shirley Smith, Jeanette Finley, Vilma Johnston, Shirley Wilson, Darwin Smith, and last but not least, Philip Howe came toddling in. He is the only one who has kept toddling along in this one particular school for twelve years. The second year was getting a little better. Some of the children were getting up enough nerve to make faces at the teacher. In the third grade we added Bob Slarb from Elyria, and Shirley Middour from Akron. We had a new teacher, Mrs. Charles Hockensmith Knee Myrtle Hastingsl who decided to try her luck at teaching the pupils. The fourth grade was the same except that Nancy Longsdorf from LeRoy was added to the class. The fifth grade was honored with a new teacher, Mrs. Delcamp. That year they were all very ambitious and they bought a radio for their room. ln the sixth grade we added Frances Maice and Wade Brooks from Cleveland. ln the seventh grade we added Jim Shadley, Jim Conwell, Geraldine Frank, Fredaline Frank, and Ethel Weaver all from Albion. Mrs. Bert Zimmerman Qnee Olga Pidzyrayloj was our advisor. During the eighth grade we were all little angels because we wanted to be accepted into the high school the next year. Shirley Smith left us to go to Wellington, Nancy Longsdorf went to Nova, and Ethel Weaver to West Salem. Mrs. Sara Starr was our advisor. The ninth grade storied off with a week of Freshman initiation, after which we were welcome to Oome to all the high school parties, etc. Wade, Philip, and Bob were on the basketball squad while b Geraldine and Fredaline were maiorettes. Frances Sexton and Ed Brazis entered our class but at the end of the year Pat Lenz left to finish at Delaware, Ohio. Mr. Lenz was our advisor. The tenth grade had two newcomers, Gloria Jeffery from West Salem and Eddie Kopylchak from Pennsylvania. Geraldine and Fredaline were chosen first team cheerleaders. Geraldine received honorable mention in the county cheerleading contest. Shirley won the local and county poetry reading contest which enabled her to go to the state where she rated excellent. Wade and Philip were on the basketball and baseball squads. Frances, Shirley, and Gloria took the District-State Scholarship Tests. At the end of that year Jim Shadley left to go to Northwestem, Jim Conwell to Ashland, and Frances Sexton to Sullivan. Mr. Workman was our faithful advisor that year. The Junior year started off with a Halloween party at Mrs. Hines. Frances won the local Prince of Peace contest. Shirley won the local poetry reading contest. Geraldine and Fredaline were first team cheerleaders. Gloria was timekeeper. Wade and Philip played basketball and Wade played baseball. Bob took the District-State Scholarship Test that year. Class Prophecy May2I, I964 Dear Friends, I have iust returned from my vacation. It has been about ten years since I have seen any of my classmates. So I decided last winter to go on a tour of the United States and look up some of my classmates. The first classmate was Frances Maice, who in spite of herself is owner and top model of Fay's Model Gallery' in the heart of New York City. The next stop was Washington, D. C. where I ran into Robert Slarb who was Presiding Judge of the Supreme Court of the United States. The next place was Ed Brazis', County Road No. 26 Ranch with his thousand head of cattle and his huge fleet of Chevrolet Ranch Wagons. Across the land to Iowa, we stopped at The Bar H Ranch where Philip Howe Pro.. Esq. runs a large hog farm. The next place was GeraIdine's home. Upon stepping out of the car I was amazed to see thirteen children running out to greet me. They took me to their ten-acre lot, where they play. After a journey, we stopped at Fredaline's. She lives in Beverly Hills with twin sons and daughters. While going through San Diego, California, I saw a large display of lights on c theater. In the spotlight was a sign. On the sign was a picture and the words, The Fabulous Gloria Lee Jeffery, Piano Soloist . While touring the Alaskan waters l ran across a trapper who told me that Eddie Kopylchak owned and operated the largest trading post in the Northwest. On the way home, lstopped at the University of Wisconsin where I finally IOC0ted Shirley Mifldour, Dean of Women at the University. At last the iourney is over and I will be glad to get back to my big easy chair in my office taking care of my investments in the Supersonic Revolution. Sincerely yours, Wade Brooks Class Will I, Frances Maice, will my ability to get my workbook done so everyone can copy from it to Joann Bigelow. Shirley Middour, will my ability to keep my mouth shut to Sally Delcamp. Geraldine Frank, will my ability to be engaged before l'm out of school to Norman Massie, Fredaline Frank, will my ability to drive like Lucky Lott, the Hell Driver to Dale Weimer. Gloria Jeffery, will my height to Lynn Grissinger who eats banana splits to grow tall. I, Eddie Kopylchak, will my ability to lose my temper to Jim Summerton. I, Wade Brooks, will my ability to drive to Roger McFrederick who seems to have a hard time driving with girls on his lap.
