P019 QC? It has been nigh on to forty years now since 1 last saw a classmate from the old school. That was back in the tough winter of 1987, when Kent Bergeson and I teamed up to dig the City of New York out after the blizzard. Bergy was the president of the Atomic Aircraft Moving Company at that time and was doing very well. Before leaving Bergy, 1 inquired about our old friends of Homedale High. He was able to give me a story about most of them. It seems that Fred Demshar was importing salt from Siberia but went broke for lack of a market. Merlyn Buck and Clydene Eells were running an ice cream stand in the Belgian Congo, which turned out to be a very prosperous venture. At the last count Bob Greer and Tommy Otto had just rung up their second mil- lion from hill billy records. Gerald Vriens was the president of the recording company where they made their records. Also employed by the company were Carmen Carson and Barbara Benham, famous singers themselves. Dave Aberasturi, Hollywood playboy-actor, had set the nation agog by persuad- ing Louise Upham, the wife of President Metzer to divorce the President and marry him That daring adventurer, Marion Simpson, was reported to have finally settled down ton Marsj after roaming the solar system for fifteen years. Gloria Leavitt and Dixie Lowder were dumping dirt on Mt. Borah in an attempt to make it higher than Mt. Everest. According to a late report they had just reached 15, O00 feet. Marge Sargent, schoolteacher and authouress, had received an invitation to tutor a prince in Afghanistan for a few years. Jim Hinton was being sued by Dennis Leslie. Jim was accused of turning loose his dog while Dennis was displaying his flea circus. Elsie Jesenko, the famous Metropolitan Opera star, was rushed to the hopsital when, after hitting an extremely high note, she found that she was unable to come back down. As I left Bergy I bought a local newspaper from Friel's Snappy News Service nearby. Glancing through it, I noticed an ad for a truck driver by the Moss Construc- tion Company, Incg shoes were on sale at the McArthur-Henley Department Store in Baltimoreg-B-lc1d's Used Car Lot was offering an old 1963 Pontiac for S49,g,Fau1ks Men's Store had a spring space suit for S88. 95. , F 'M Turning to the sports pages, I was pleased to see that Denny Wyman had broken a world record by running the 100 yard dash in 6. 45 seconds. One headline proclaimed that Jolly Joyce Uria had just won two falls out of three over Cagey Carmen Salutregui in the women's wrestling finals. Another noted the arrival in Georgia of Donna Lea Tipton, the first woman ever to swim the Atlantic from East to West. i In the fashions section I noticed that those famous rival designers, Pat Key and Gloria Car en e were engaged in a hot battle over proposed alterations in women's bathing suits. It was getting late so 1 pulled my collar up around my ears and started the journey back to my laboratory where I am perfecting a process that will enable a person to have his cake and eat it too.
