As the dance was to be lnformal flowers and gowns were eliminated from the beginning. In prep- aration for the dance, the boys of the committee were selling tickets and the girls were talking the dance into the success that it was. Getting a ride proved to be a major problem, but that was taken care of. Finally, February 14th came along. Going to school the same day offered its advantages but mostly its disadvantages True you could see your O AO and make sure of your ride but if you stayed home you would be sure your hair looked right your dress pressed properly etc Nevertheless by 8 30 dressed ln their best Sunday clothes to be whistled and cheered at by the traditional throng outside of the War Memorial Building the guys and gals showed up And by 11 30 they were on their way to you know where The surprises inaugurated by the Student Council, helped to Ixven the evening About 10 P M two lovely masked creatures walked out on the stage One was dressed as an old fashioned Valentine I m afraid the red hair gave Pat Kennedy away She really looked smooth Janet Kelly came out singing and dancing as a modern Valentine and did a fine Job on a new song The big event of the evening was the choosing of a Queen of Hearts Janet Graham a senior was selected by one of the members of Chuck Anders band as Miss Valentine of 1947 She finished the dance carrying a cleverly decorated heart crown A vote of thanks is definitely in order for Miss Gertrude Griffin and Mr Wyatt Harper Janet Kelly Patricia Kennedy Virginia Krok and her art work the Student Council the Social Committee the officers of all classes and a host of others who made our last Student Council Dance such a success li' Wg? iii' Y- 'MI X1 DRAMATICS by Conslance
