For the first few games we had no coach. Monsignor real- ized that the raw material was there but that a good coach would be necessaryg so, when the boys asked if he knew of someone willing to accept the position he recommended Mr. Keppler. Up to this time none of us was acquainted with Mr. Keppler but we relied on Monsignor's good judgment. Years ago Kep was quite a catcher in Union County and starred on the Westfield Legion Team. He caught for many years and his store of diamond lore is as large as can be found here- abouts. The first few weeks of Kep's reign were rather hectic for he had to gain the confidence of the boys and overcome the opposi- tion of those who had had complete control before he came. This he did by his personality and knowledge of his fellow men. During all our trials and difficulties in that first year he stood by us, offer- ing consolation in defeat and praise in victory. One game in particular will always stand out in our minds. We were far behind St. Mary's going into the last inning but a rally brought us to within one run of the opposition. The rally was killed by what we considered high-handed methods for the umpire was convinced by their coach that our runner bearing the winning run had failed to touch second base, thus nullifying the tying run which ,- X 'I ' ' 5 - ' , f Q . . . -WN .4 D f f f ' ' ' gd- bg 20 5' ws. f V QV- L , 1 'K If -. . . - W 4- Q Na. 4' Jw4 ' f s . I TRAMURALS ERSONALITIES and characteristics, hidden in the classroom, are brought to the fore in the intramural program. lt is here that upper and lower classmen meet on equal terms and really get to know each other. The keen competition between the teams evokes much enthusiasm from both the par- ticipants and the audience. The efficient management of the league allows everyone to play at one time or another. The delay in the construction of the gym necessitated a late start of the intramural program this year. As the yearbook goes to press the teams pictured on these pages are fighting hard for the league lead. We, the Seniors, hate to leave the friendly atmosphere of the court and we wish every success to the intramural program. lt has been good for us and we know the students of Trinity will continue to thrive on it. Doesn't it bring back memories of a grand time put- ting onthe play? Remember the stage-struck teen-ager, her loving boy friend, and his scheming side-kick? Can't you see the money-minded, excitable, French dress designer, the veteran actress as a maid, the feather-brained mother, and the impatient father? The faithful, understanding girl- friend, the farm-loving brother, the contented sister and the author got together with the rest to make a merry mixup which was finally set straight by an understanding grand- mother. lt all added up to a couple of months of good times which will never be forgotten!
