llEllIlIHlEll lll . .0 A SIC ITER AD ASTRA SUCH IS THE WAY TO THE STARS URING the past year there was added to our Faculty a newly ordained Priest, The Reverend John Francis Davis. An exemplar of all that is to be desired in Catholic manhood, he is a holy and saintly priest. The sheep in this shepherd's care need never fear for they are guarded well because such gold can never tarnish. Hence it is not strange that Father Davis has rapidly endeared himself to all, both in and out of school. We, the Class of l944, love and respect him for the tireless effort he has devoted both to our scholastic work as well as our outside activities. Also, we realize that by the firm religious faith and convictions he has imparted, all our lives have become more enriched, and thus we may be enabled to strive all the greater for the honor and glory of Almighty God. To Father Davis then, this yearbook is respectfully dedicated and along with it go our humble prayers for the continuance of his holy work in the years to come. We know that future classes will come to feel towards him as we do, and will likewise regret to leave his faithful and beneficial guidance. -ROBERT JOHNSTON lt is singular to note that both the Curate and the Pastor are from Jersey City and that two of the Ordinandi, The Reverend Charles R. Callahan and The Reverend James Driscoll, pictured in this book, are both classmates of The Reverend Father Davis and they are both Monsignor Watterson's boys. lHE llEVEllEllll flllHEll
