J Casey T Jones D Powers R Coulsting C DeKold J Martin D Margiotta E dheeler C Bashara E kavanaugh Herman Butt,1n whose hands was placed the tremendous responsibility of converting a veritable group of infants into a quintet capable of successfully defending its two year reign over V1Pg1DlB'S Catholic sec ondary schools, came through in a most amazing fashion, despite the fact that his proteges failed in their quest foraathird consecutive champion ship trophy His green clads compiled an enviable record of twelve v1c tories against five reversals in a slate which included frays with two of the top Tidewater hardwood powers Newport News, to whom they bowed, encounters Notable throughout the campaign was the untiring, steady work of John Casey Ed Kavanaugh and Don Powers This trio was the beacon light which guided the Trinidads safely through a most hectic year of action on both the HTHS floor and abroad Casey, a Junior with a flare for the dramatic, cultivated the habit of breaking up close ball games with his devastating hook shot as well as his deadly accurate sets Kavanaugh constantly quickened the heartbeat of manw'aloyal Yellow Jacket fan with his ball stealing antics and his airtight defensive work,w ich incident ally was good enough to hold players such as the Academy's Bob Roberts to a mere minimum of his usual output Rangy Don proved a terror under both baskets grabbing each enemy rebound which came his way Cand some that d1dI1't, and tipping in double deckers for the Green and Gold Unfortunately, we seem to have left out quite a few boys worthy of ment1on,but shall attempt to alleviate the situation by Just saying that you all played swell and that we're all proud of you' and Nbrfolk Academy's Bulldogs, with whom they split a pair of thrilling - . . . . . .
