“In 19147, Robert Doumar 'lg7, Kathleen O'Keefe 'li8, and Mary Louise Stel- basky '48 were selected from among hundreds to represent Trinity at a science meeting at which they were each awarded with a certificate o f honorable mention and 310.00 prize for their work. James Aubrey '48 placed second in the Modern Language Association exam- ination and won a 3150.00 scholarship to the University of Virginia. A scholarship to U. C. L. A. was won by Francis Morlino through the Navy ROTC. Mary Louise Stelbasky, Kathleen O'Keefe and Carolyn Slattery took first second and third prizes in a Catholic Daughters of America book review con- test in l9h8 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V F W contest was won by Ann Smith in l9h9 Also in l9h9 Shirley Hooper received the I F C A Award Holy Trinity in its first year of competition in the National Catholic High School Typing Association won third place in the Amateur Class, and, through the efforts o f Betty Ann Woodsend 50 who ranked second among 1 A72 contestants throughout the United States, won second place in the Nov ice class Patricia Wheat, Shirley Hooper and Jacqueline Harrell placed fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively among the amateur contestants In twenty one years Trinity High School has matured It survived the difficult struggle of the early years and in spite of many physical handi caps has given to Virginia, to the nation, and to the Church a loyal group of men and women of whom she may be proud Q 'ea es.
