Following Sister Ann Elizabeth as principal was Sister Clara Inez who held that position from l9b0 to l9bh For a number o f years students from Trinity entered into competitive examinations at William and Mary College and there are archive accounts of certificates of honor which were awarded Julian Pleasants '36 and William Henche no both received high awards in these contests In 1936 Julian Pleasants won first place in a second year Spanish competition and was award ed a scholarship to the college Henche won his scholarship for his out standing work in Chemistry In l9hh the Rev Martin J Harrison replaced Father Kealey as pastor of Holy Trinity and the school has been under his kindly guidance ever since It was in l9h4 too that Sister Rose Estelle succeeded Sister Clara Inez principal of the school Three Trinity graduates have returned in the course of years to assist as members of the faculty Fred Stant 34 was the first, and in later years he was followed by Robbins Williams 'A3 and Mary Louise Stelbasky Fred Stant l3u Mary Louise Stelbasky AB Robbins Wllllams U43 In 1946 Sister Rose Marie was appointed principal and to her goes the distinction of being the last principal in Tr1nity's history In these final years, besides the awards in athletics, the students have continued in the traditions of the years gone by and h a v e brought further honors and awards to their school Q - . . . In 19147, Robert Doumar 'lg7, Kathleen O'Keefe 'li8, and Mary Louise Stel- basky '48 were selected from among hundreds to represent Trinity at a science meeting at which they were each awarded with a certificate o f honorable mention and 310.00 prize for their work. James Aubrey '48 placed second in the Modern Language Association exam- ination and won a 3150.00 scholarship to the University of Virginia. A scholarship to U. C. L. A. was won by Francis Morlino through the Navy ROTC. Mary Louise Stelbasky, Kathleen O'Keefe and Carolyn Slattery took first second and third prizes in a Catholic Daughters of America book review con- test in l9h8 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V F W contest was won by Ann Smith in l9h9 Also in l9h9 Shirley Hooper received the I F C A Award Holy Trinity in its first year of competition in the National Catholic High School Typing Association won third place in the Amateur Class, and, through the efforts o f Betty Ann Woodsend 50 who ranked second among 1 A72 contestants throughout the United States, won second place in the Nov ice class Patricia Wheat, Shirley Hooper and Jacqueline Harrell placed fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively among the amateur contestants In twenty one years Trinity High School has matured It survived the difficult struggle of the early years and in spite of many physical handi caps has given to Virginia, to the nation, and to the Church a loyal group of men and women of whom she may be proud Q 'ea es.
