The story is about two lovable old spinsters, who feel it is their duty to put all of the old and lonely batchelors out of their misery, by inviting them over for their own mixture of poison and eldeberry wine. However their plans are thwarted by their nephew Mor- timer, who is home to marry his sweetheart Elaine. Complicating matters are lvlortimers' brothers Teddy, who thinks he is Teddy Roose- velt, and Jonathan, who with his partner Dr. Ein- stein, are always one step ahead of the law. At the end of the play, Martha and Abby are preparing to give their special brand of eldeberry wine to the kindly old doctor at the Happy Dale Asylum. ACTIVITIES 55

The teachers present awards to students who excel in cer- tain subject areas and to those who were cho- sen to attend the District Literary Rally.
