Freestyle: Keith Switzer Kurt Oestricher. For the fourth year in a row, the EAGLES were AAA State Champs. The boys swim team came in first in AAA and fin- ished fifth behind 4 other schools in AAAA. The l3oy's 400 yd. Freestyle team took 3rd place in the state. The Girls Swim team finished sixth behind 4 Quad A schools and , Chuck Carey, Will Brown, Relays Girls 400 yd. Junior Keith Switzer, became the Louisiana State High School Champion in both 200 yd. and 500 yd. Freestyle. Keith also won All- American honors in High School Prep for 100, 200, and 500 yd. Freestyle, as well as All-American hon- ors in High School in the 200 and 500 yd. freestyle. Keith placed 8th in the nation in the 1650 yd. frees- tyle at the National Junior Olympics Short Course Swim Meet. Gretchen Vahlkamp, a senior, is the other proud member. Gretchen placed 7th in the state in both the 100 yd. freestyle and the 100 yd. breaststroke. Gretchen was also a member of the 400 yd. relay team that won State Runner-up hon- ors.
