The captain for this season, was Suzy Rachal who suc- ceeded her sister in the position. Most Valuable Player was pitcher Nancy O'Shea, who came to Menard this year. The Most Improved Player, as voted by the team was Stacy Heald. This season savv the Lady Eagles practicing and working out as hard as ever, as they completed their third season as a team. For her second year as coach of the Lady Eagles, coach Mandy Fortenberry led the 1979- 1980 Softball team to a great season. The Lady Eags finished out the season with an overall record of 7-7. Their District record was 3-2. The Lady Eagles were one game from state playoffs, and had they beat Buckeye, they would have surely made it. This year's pitcher, Nancy Oshea, had an Earned Run Average of 1.1, as well as M being one of the top five hitters on the team. The other top hitters were Suzy Flachal, Debbie Allen, Michelle Hebert, and Stephanie Prejean. With a strong combination of good fielding and good batting, the Lady Eagles took third place in Dis- trict for the second year in a row.
