Coach Alford took over the 1979- 1980 track team from Coach Waites, but the team was I still trained and coached as thoroughly as before. The Eagles this season placed 5th in the District, as well as sending several members to the State and Regional lmeets. Those players who qualified for the Regional imeet wereg Keith Jordon for the long jump and triple jumpg Henry Clancey for the high jumpg Remo Abra- I ham for 400 meterg and Vince Cumella for the javelin Both Vince and Remo qualified for the State meet at L.S.U. For the Track team, the Sprinters' workout consists of 12 short sprints one day, alter- nating with 9 sprints of various lengths the next day. For the distance runners, one day of 10 sprints of various lengths is alternated with one day of 5 sprints and a 1 mile run. For the Field team, there is a similar pro- gram of running to build up the players' endurance, plus a program of Weightlifting is added to increase the players' strength.
