The Eagles as a team had a great season, but also some of the indi- vidual players earned special hon- ors. Players chosen for All District honors were Jeff Fruge for pitchingg Clay Vanderlick for pitchingg catcher Remo Abrahamg center fielder Jim Mathevvsg and 3rd base- man Ross Ponthie, Three ofthe Eagles also received Honorable Mention at All Stateg they were Jeff Fruge, Ross Ponthie, and Remo Abraham. Coach Alford took over the 1979- 1980 track team from Coach Waites, but the team was I still trained and coached as thoroughly as before. The Eagles this season placed 5th in the District, as well as sending several members to the State and Regional lmeets. Those players who qualified for the Regional imeet wereg Keith Jordon for the long jump and triple jumpg Henry Clancey for the high jumpg Remo Abra- I ham for 400 meterg and Vince Cumella for the javelin Both Vince and Remo qualified for the State meet at L.S.U.
