This dedication is the expression of our appreci- ation for your unceasing eilorts in our behalf. Your marvelous achievements during the past year call for a special tribute. Daily we view the splendor of the magniiicent antique stained glass Windows and the beauty of the art that adorns the interior of our Church. We pause and send our thoughts Godwards as the bells ring out the Mass hours and the Angelus. We rejoice with you in this memorable year of the Consecration of Holy Rosary Church. May the coming years find us active partici- pants in your future endeavors. ,1- wi' . ,pw if' 5 Z , Y F A C U L T Y of HOLY HOSARY HIGH SCHOOL DOMINICAN SISTERS Congregation of Sain? For some of you it is the last link in this phase of your life, for others it is a step forward in your Catholic education. You possess and manifest a beautiful childlike spirit. It is a joy to observe such simplicity. We desire to see this spirit grow in you, making you obedient, loyal and strong members of Cod,s Kingdom on earth and glorious members of His Heavenly Kingdom. Cherish, observe, and defend the principles of Christian living instilled in you by your devoted teachers. Love and increase your appreciation of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Be faithful in frequent reception of Penance and the Holy Eucharist. Pray your rosary daily with love and devotion. Walk hand in hand with Mary, your Queen and Model. Thank God for His great goodness to you and implore Him fervently and constantly to keep your minds fixed on the things of Heaven. God bless you! SISTER MARY CARMELITA Sister Superior 'So they committed themselves to the will of God and resolved to proceed ... l E Iilli MEMURIE With diplomas in hand, we walk down the aisle of memories. Each step we take recalls to us the best years of our lives, the year we spent at H. R. H. It was here that we, the class of 51 , began our climb up the ladder to our high school career. We were no different than the classes which had preceded us, and we, too, began as green freshmen, the seniors' wish was our command. This was not for long however, and we were soon recognized as capable Sodalists when we were accepted in the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Proud we were the day that our classmate janet Rodgers won recognition in a city essay contest. A class basketball team, the Pepperettes, was organized and was supported by faithful cheer leaders and grandstand rooters. Among the Queen's Court at the annual Mother-Daughter Tea, were our princesses Sylvia Campagna and Lorraine Vallela. The frosh-soph picnic at Shady Beach ended our first year. It was September again, and we were now on the other side of the hall in room 212. It was the scene of many activities, for it was this year that the Polka Dot Band made its debut at the Father-Daughter Banquet. It seems as though we were very usportyi' that year, too, for we won the Sportsmanship Pennant. Many of the girls now belonged to the select singing groups of the Maryam and the Dominican Choir. Sally Fox and Donna Lewis were chosen Princesses for the year. Again we enjoyed our soph-frosh picnic at Shady Beach. We really must have liked that beach! None of us will ever forget when we began our junior year, for now we were Upperclassmen-which had been anticipated for a long time. Dissecting frogs in biology, making a speed test in typing, and substituting characters for words in shorthand, were all new and thrilling experiences. We gave some of the peppiest and snappiest assemblies that year, under the leadership of our Social Chairman, Donna Pedersen. That year was the first year a Loyalty Cup was given to the class which displayed the most enthusiasm and spirit in school activities, and we, the juniors, were the first winners. The junior Talent Show and Mixer was sponsored to raise funds for our first Prom which was held at the Seattle Golf and Country Club. We treated the seniors to the annual picnic at Lake Wilderness, and even though it did rain, we had a wonderful time. We can all too clearly remember our senior year, for those last nine months went by like a flash. Along with Kathy Strub, Lorraine Vallela, and Margaret Tracey, Marilyn Sollick's name went down on the pages of our class history as our fourth and last class president. Again, we led an eventful year of class parties and activities. We received our senior pins and rings at the annual Sodality Breakfast on October 19. As part of our economics class, we made a trip to Olympia and toured the State Capitol. The remaining months whizzed by with such events as the F ather-Daughter Banquet, Faculty Day, Senior White Day, Mother- Daughter Tea, Baccalaureate Sunday, junior-Senior Treat, and our first Dinner Promv at the Rainier Golf and Country Club, over which Margaret Tracey reigned as Queen. Now it is Graduation night and our Commencement is over and never again will we walk as students through the halls of Holy Rosary High, but we will always cherish our inspiring memories, no matter where the road of life may lead us. Entering room 212 was an important day for the new sophomores. They now had such privileges as having lockers, becoming Maryans and Glee Club officers, and hearing the news when it was news. The most important of all was that they were the upperclassmen of the lower classmen. Annalu Marsh, Mary Ellen Nolan, Connie Gregor, and Anne Croseclose were elected to lead the class. Some new features started by the class were an athletic program, a pen-pal club, and a project of sending clothes to the poor in Europe. School Days! Those are umagicv words, especially in the fall when it is one's first year in high school. The members of the class of '54, in search of more knowl- edge, made their entrance into the fold of H. R. H. with usual initiation. They progressed through the year successfully under the leadership of Rita McSharry, class presidentg Margaret Wallrof, vict-presidentg Cerrie Kumhera, secretaryg and Kerin Rodgers, social chairman. One of their most successful projects was an Indian Exhibit, in which they displayed various Indian articles. Their school spirit has made them a lively contender for X the Loyalty Award. So, with a successful year behind them, the class of '54 is anxiously looking forward to a pvxlhw V bigger and better sophomore year! In witness whereof and herewith we have hereby signed, sealed and published this testament and declared this to be our Last Will and last piece of work at Holy Rosary High School. SENIOR CLASS, '51 PIHIPIIEUY Here sit the Seniors in the front row, Faces happy, spirits not low. Soon will come their graduation What's their effect upon our nation? Listen now, and you will hear Their story on this earthly sphere. From pillar to post Cathy hops, Her Lightfoot takes her to the tops. She sweeps the stars from the sky away, And brings them back shining at end of day. Pat Slater, busy as a bee, Is typing out her songs. A song writer she aims to be, With music for the throngs. Beverly Small takes out her toys, And all day long she makes shrill noise. You can guess what she's busy doing, She's famous for piano tuning. Donna Lewis, it seems so funny, Takes spills in front of a mob. She found some work to raise some money, Testing roller skates, is her job. Flour, sugar, salt and lard. Golly, this ain't hard. Sings Pat Troastle on high, Baking Langendorf pies. Sally Fox, though not very big, At school convinced us she had no wig. The years have passed, again we have met, And found she makes wigs for the younger set. Rose Mary Smith is the master of all, But you may inquire what is her call. At Van de Kamp's she got her founda- tion. A taster, that's her occupation. With no profession and many ambi- tions, Maralyn Sollick couldn't find her way. Now her actions are all in one direction Mixing chemicals by night and by day. Pat Reardon, it seems so outlandish, You were so dainty and fleet a la foot. You're now the despair of all shoe men, No store can contain your slim boot. The pearly gates swing open wide Adrnitting humble souls inside. Kathleen, we know is waiting there To guide us celestially in with care. Ironing curtains, mending sox Making beds, and combing locks. Thus we see Joanne the reporter, Keeping now, her house in order. Beneath the sunny skies she stands With Erin's shamrocks in her hands, Margaret Tracey is this lass The Irishman of the '51 class. With a trim little apron and specks We see the grocer, Miss McVey, Sorting her apples and busheling her peeks With a polite, Can I help you today? Down at Ivar's on Pier 91 Stands Alvina Schantz of Class '5l. As the street orator pauses for a bowl of chowder Alvina fhard of hearing? cries, Loud- er, please, Louder. What's on our T.V. set tonight? Sugar Boy Robinson in his greatest fight. His manager Carrity plays no hunches She's in there helping him give out those punches. Donna Pedersen had a great ambition Sadly enough it went to perdition That girl has become Seattle's Rage, She peels bananas in the monkey cage. Poor Harmina Reichert does not feel fed All she's had to eat is milk and bread. She has no fears of pounds she'll gain, But won'y-wart ulcers give her pain. A girl of charm was Skinny Duffy No commotion made her huffy. Soprano in Ensemble sang Mattie Today the Met's star's name is Fatty. Delores Spiess was quite a gal, But to the boys just a pal. Now Dede's modeling for john Powers. The boys are smothering her with flowers. If you should pass a zoo some nite, And happen to glance upon a light, Perhaps you'll find O'Donnell there Guiding the monkeys with their prayer. And here they come around the bend, With Andree Sullivan near the end. But do not fret folks, you will smile When our sweet jockey comes first in the mile. Does you dog have fleas? Does he suffer from fits? Marlene Ultsch for giant fees, Doctors the needs of your Spitz. If you should pass Shirley Nelson some day, And you hear her mumbling on the way. Don't be surprised, you'd be that way too, If you were chief match counter at the Diamond Co. It may be caviar, or spagett' Or pies and even crepe suzzette, Chee Chee Vallela knows them best, The greatest food expert in the West. Some have a knack for cooking And for painting too. But if you want to advance in dancing Kathy Stnib is in the groove. And, Sylvia, we like to recall you Your young slim days are o'er Thru the grapevine we've heard it reported That you enter only double width doors. Finding a secluded spot We see our Janet Rodgers, Hand-painting knee high argyle sox Her present to the Dodgers. Who teaches history to Prince Charlie Of the royal house of Britain? Why Miss Catherine Montcalm Who by the travel bug was bitten. With ringing voice and perfect poise We find orator Barbara Small, And on H.R.'s school spirit team She is not small a'tall. Idalynn Leonard always was frisky Today her activities a.ren't so risky, She flew a plane in the lift to Nome Now she's knitting socks in the old F olk's home. Gladyne Lucchesini was a girl with vision Then one day she got religion Where's that girl we'll always like? Leading the Am1y at First and Pike. Do you remember Marberta? She loathed to see school days come. Right now she heads Teachers College, And, believe me, she makes it hum. It isn't so bad to imagine That Pat of the Sterling type, Has abandoned the World Wide Air- ways And travels the globe on a bike. Dear Graduates, we give to you, Best wishes, love, happiness, too. But no more bouquets to you do we send For there ain't any more, this is the end. ' .
