Za 'iTo die at the height of a man's career, the highest moment of his effort here in this world, universally honored and admired, to die while great issues are still commanding the whole of his interest, to be taken from us at a moment when he could already see ultimate success in view-is not the most unenviable of fates. -Winston Churchill A memorial Mass was celebrated at Holy Names on November 27. Let the word go forth from this time and place to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans. As these words rang out one chill january day, john Fitzgerald Kennedy firmly grasped the torch of freedom. He was the new leaderg he was the representative of that new generation of Ameri- cans. Thus, the new President led the land he loved to the New Frontier. With youthful vigor he initiated new programs and gave a fresh look to the old. The Alliance for Progress, the Peace Corps, the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty -these were among the many new measures of the Ken- nedy Program. His tremendous popularity was world-wide. John Ken- nedy personified the characteristics of which Americans are most proud. Then suddenly two years and ten months after that Inauguration Day, the voice of our beloved President was stilled forever by an assassin's bullet. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy is dead, but he will always be alive in the minds and hearts of his countrymen and people the world over, and his greatness shall live on. It would be well to remember the words of Speaker John McCormack on November 23, 1963: We should thank God that we have been privileged, however briefly, to have had this great man for our President. This photograph of President Kennedy at the University of California was provided through the courtesy of the Oakland TRIBUNE.

I The memorable night of the Junior Informal held fun and excitement under the spell of Moonlight and Roses. Many hours were spent by Joey Stevens and crew making rose trees and trellises with eye-catching, mood-spinning results. Decorative as well as tasty refreshments and a wide selection of music were arranged for by Marie Mor- phy and her committee. Franca Di Ruocco and fellow- artists designed bids of which we are proud.
