Throughout the year many melodious sounds are heard from the music department. The cooperation and hard work of the sisters and students are visible in the appreciation and knowledge gained. s 1 jan Brockway explains the opera, The Barber of Seville to the questioning music appreciation class. Terri Reinthaler matches Sister M. Rose Colette's high C. Fostering the talent of perhaps future star- lets, Miss Miller works hard in the drama de- partment. The glittering and successful produc- tions she directs each year are excellent proofs of her enthusiastic work and the ability of her students. Renee and Charlotte read a play while the rest of the class eagerlv follow the script.

O The business world needs efficient and respon- sible secretaries and clerical workers to keep offices running smoothly. The business department is where such future secretaries receive this training. Steno I and typing provide the fundamentals in letter placement and dictation. Steno II and transcription give the girls a chance to practice and perfect their skills, thus enabling them to achieve their goal as competent and well-trained secretaries. Office and Clerical Practice give the girls a chance to function in an oflice-type situation. Though the challenges are many and varied, Holy Names has a reputation for sending out into the business world well-trained secretaries. In Transcription the girls combine their typing and shorthand skills. -hi-l Anna Maiolini and Elaine Diridoni ROSE Marv Muffy Judy Schmalek and Karen Casazza Through practical experience in operating vari- ous olfice machines, these girls become better acquainted with the work they will soon be doing. Contour drawing takes concentration in order to catch every detail. ,-41: As clothing students master the rudiments of machine and hand sewing, they have gained valu- able knowledge in this domestic field. They learn to select patterns and material, assemble the gar- ment, and finish it professionally. In addition to learning about fabrics and patterns, the clothing students learn the importance of appropriate ap- parel.
