Re-enacting such tales is an in- teresting way to study the origin of our modern short story form. Kathy, Rosie, janet and Dolores act out a scene from Dr, Faustusf' Kathy Kretzmer and Sandy Cavallo discuss To Build a Fire by Jack London. English at Holy Names includes literature, composition, and grammar. Literature, covering poetry, fiction, biography and drama, gives stu- dents an insight into both the realism and ideal- istic aspects of life. In composition, girls learn how to put their own ideas into writing. Grammar, in- cluding usage, vocabulary and spelling, is taught so that students can master the structure of the English language, Learning is fun in Mrs. Carbis' English II.

Kathy and Martha calculate heat effects. Nancy contemplates a new biological specimen. In an age of scientific discovery, sci- ence is a matter of national concern, for America needs it now more than ever before. Science is a pivot around which the forces that compose our world revolve. A science course in high school is a support for higher education, and in the hands of those who seek a higher education the future of America rests. Along with the new science age and its developments come Carla and Priscilla show their prowess in advanced math, a vital need for math. General math, Algebra I and II, geometry, and advanced math are all valuable classes contributing to the personal knowledge of every girl attending Holy Names.
