In 1852, when their venerated Master of Novices, Monsignor Francois Allard, O.M.I., established his See as Vicar Apostolic in Rome, South Africa, the Sisters be- came associated with the work there through prayer. The first Sisters, however, left for Basutoland only in 1931. It was at this time that a group also left for Japan. Many months of valiant work and immense good among the Japanese were interrupted by the war, and the Sisters were forced to cease their efforts.
