Sister M. Regina Ann, Superior Principal Religion. God calls you to an apostolate. You are Religious . . . who will carry afar the glory of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. In 1844, after many months of prayer and serious contemplation, Eulalie Durocher, with the aid of Melodie Dufresne and Henriette Cere, founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, based on the rules and habit of a French religious com- munity. At the suggestion of Bishop Ignace Bourgat of Mon- treal, the three girls began their religious life in a little stone schoolhouse in Longueuil, Canada, on October 28, 1843. The following year, on December 8, they pro- nounced their vows, and Eulalie received the oflicial title Mother Marie Rose. I I I Sister M. Within a few years after the death of Mother Marie Rose, her Sisters ful- filled a life-long ambition, and missions were opened in New York, California, Florida, Oregon, and in the Provinces of Windsor and Manitoba, Canada, all func- tioning from and through the Mother House at Outre- mont, Montreal. Over the years, the community has fur- ther advanced to include novitiates in Oregon, Califor- nia, New York, and Basutoland, South Africa, and' schools in twelve of the fifty States, three Canadian Provinces, South Africa, and Latin America. Let the word go forth from this time and place to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans. As these words rang out one chill january day, john Fitzgerald Kennedy firmly grasped the torch of freedom. He was the new leaderg he was the representative of that new generation of Ameri- cans. Thus, the new President led the land he loved to the New Frontier. With youthful vigor he initiated new programs and gave a fresh look to the old. The Alliance for Progress, the Peace Corps, the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty -these were among the many new measures of the Ken- nedy Program. His tremendous popularity was world-wide. John Ken- nedy personified the characteristics of which Americans are most proud. Then suddenly two years and ten months after that Inauguration Day, the voice of our beloved President was stilled forever by an assassin's bullet. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy is dead, but he will always be alive in the minds and hearts of his countrymen and people the world over, and his greatness shall live on. After being hostesses for a group of girls on retreat from Ramona Convent, they began to have some fun for themselves. Activities included decorat- ing lockers at Christmastime, caroling in the halls and for the Sisters at the Wassail Party. Their graduation year, 1964, was heralded in by their cheerleaders, Kathy, Gail, and Sally, as Linda displayed their class flower, mascot, and motto. ,, ,f,,,. , I f ,K wt, .. , -,,ff',.. r--f was 'frfimsisszissviigix ..,, 'QV f ' J .if -F..-i, ffeffiliif Vi? l tys i t t if srlr QS' ,V ,,,,,,, V5 y '15, 3 4 f t - rr: ' if . fi 'ir 357113, W.
