THE RED CROSS The face of War is Terrible For human eyes to see: lt takes its toll, unbearable, ln high mortality. While man must leave his loved to tight On battlefields of stress, lt is the woman's harder part To bear the loneliness, And yet it is the woman's part To keep the homefires warrn. He also serves who - waits. A bright Red Cross upon her arm. Winnona Ellerton Early in the school year we enrolled in the Junior American Red Cross and have readily responded to their requests for aid by contributing atghans, hospital tray favors tor Christmas, Valentines, and St. Patrick's day, ket bags, pillow slips, hot water bag covers, cartoon books, and classic novels. Not the least of our undertakings was the collection of approximately 2,000 coat hangers which were sent to Baxter General Hos- pital. Five hundred inspiring holy pictures have been mounted and dis- tributed among the boys in the service. Encouraged by our success in this organization and the knowledge that we are assisting in the war effort many of us hope to continue in this admirable work. Page :even
