,ww P am f ,fn vm 'll Teams The Varsity Basketball Team was coached by Eddie Miles who described the team as improved and more knowledgeable. The team won one game against Rainier Beach. Coach Miles awarded medals to all team members rather than individual trophies since all were equally able players. Varsity Basketball: Rea Harbin, Nicole Metcalf, Shawn Davis, Heather Calhoun, Trina Fornerette, Cindy Michael. Tanya Hobson, Melvenia Bradford, Sarah Hesketh. Coached by Jerry Cyprian, the JV Basketball team worked to better their skill level and to improve their game. The Team, composed mostly of freshmen, finished the season with a 12-2 record. JV Basketball: Marlena Parks, Algeria Cyprian, Saucy Slye, Katie Crace, Erika Williams, Yolanda Lewis. Kathy Mitchell, Paula Seibert. A season of good work and group participation led HNA's Cross Country Team to second place in Metro. Under the coaching of Denny West, the team took fourth place at District. Junior Janet Goldsmith was 34th out of 103 runners at State. Q Teams Although the close of the Volleyball season left the varsity team with few victories, team members could boast of a profitable season of building experience. Coached by Dan Crist, the team played games against the regular Metro rivals and also attended the Joyce invitational. Varsity Team: Top: Angela Duane fMost lnspirationaly, Judi Cunningham, Karen Goto, Mary Pat Henwood, Kelly Burns, Kristal Kichline, Terri Harkins, Coach Crist. Bottom: Aileen Calacat, Janet Hess fMost lmprovedj. Not pictured: Elizabeth Boyle fMost Valuable Playerl. The JV Volleyball team was also coached by Dan Crist. According to Crist these girls worked to imporve their technique throughout the season and did successfully meet this goal.
