Then, last November, Nicole died, following a two-year struggle with the disease. The girls here who knew and loved Nicole will remember her for her many endearing qualities: her beautiful smile, her thoughtfulness, her great determination and patience. Nicole gave 11070 in everything she did. Nicole was an avid jogger, going six g miles a day. She also liked to bowl, to read and to listen to music. Nicole appreciated the warmth and friendship she found at 'Holy Names, and she will be missed for the special gifts that she brought to her classmates. l'lI lend you for a little time, a child of mine. 8 introduction ws ww' ww NwN'9N' xxws Sports 9 Q Teams Although the close of the Volleyball season left the varsity team with few victories, team members could boast of a profitable season of building experience. Nicole Metcalf H Heather Calhoun In September each member of the freshman class of 1988 had the opportunity to meet three big sisters, one from each class. This event was coordinated by the ASB officers and took place during Frosh Week in the SAC and Auditorium. Frosh Week is an annual event to welcome the freshmen into Holy Names. The purpose is to help them feel like they are a part of HNA. Senior Kim Carhee felt that it was a successful week, lt was so successful because we broke it down so that each class could spend time with the freshmen. Each class greeted the freshmen in a different, creative way. Freshmen found their senior big sisters by matching colors. Next, juniors found their freshmen by matching shoes. Finally, sophomore sisters were found by playing a word association game. Freshman Julie Bundrant agrees that Frosh Week was successful, I loved it because I got to meet upper classmenf' All in all it was a fun experience for everyone. 18 Frosh Week Jog-A-Thon Makes Money for Athletics Raflhel GVUYZ IHKGS fime OLH i0 P0 id9f- Kim Van Steertegem, Kathy Troyer: Skippers are 9961!
