Each of us has created some very special memories of our time here that we will carry with us wherever we may go. We'll re- member the places and faces and all the little elements that make Holy Names a very special part of our lives. A great deal happens here at Holy Names. We learn, explore, grow, and, at some magic moment along the way, become adults. Leaving Holy Names, we go into the world prepared, yet unknowing. We welcome our futures hopefully, expectantly, optimistically, while anxiously realizing the ambiguity tomorrow holds. We work toward graduation knowing There's a long road ahead, but a lot to leave behind. ll 3 ad inistrati , L? Sister Ann Pizelo, Principal. Throughout the learning Resource Center and school library, students and teachers can be found thumbing through card catalogues, finding needed informa- tion, and relaxing in a bean bag chair with a good book. With the assistance of librarians Mrs. Peggy Baldwin, Sister Rose Margaret Guest and Sister Karen Kasper, the library equipment, which consists of books, magazines, records, filmstrips, and cassettes, becomes the learning tool we need. Our librarians also help preserve the atmosphere needed for concentrated study. Under their guidance, study habits and information hunting are made easier. These are just a few of the aspects a Holy Names athlete experiences in her competative life. It takes the work and sweat of everyone participating to bring about success, and all to well she knows the price she must pay to achieve it. She realizes that in order for any team to succeed they have to work together. Teamwork is definitely one of the most important traits a winning team possesses. Teamwork alone does not guarantee victory however, sportsmanship also is essential. I-low many times has the phrase, It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game! been repeated? It isn't just winning that is important. There is the desire for competition and love of working with others that reaps reward for all the effort. Each individual channels all her energy and spirit into putting forth her best efforts. When she feels she has given all she can, she knows she is a winner-- despite what the scoreboard might read. The sports program at H. N.A. offers a wide choice of sports: basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and track. The vitality and spirit the athlete expresses will enable her to defeat any opponent--whether it be on the court or on the field. Taught by Mrs. Frances Feng, Mrs. Elizabeth Swift and Mrs. Curry, these classes embrace the aspects of science most interesting to our students. Through these studies, our students are learning about themselves and the world they live in. The classes are not only for an immediate application, but are an excellent basis for further study in college. A developing component of the Science Depart- ment is the involvement in various extended learning experiences. Classes undertake fieldtrips to learn and observe firsthand a practical use of scientific theories. Our students also partake in Science Fairs and seminars at other Seattle schools and sponsoring organizations to gain a broader horizon of information.
