It is a symbol of intrepid valor of the Christian Knight, it is the powerful weapon which enables him to carry off the victory in the tournament of life, it is unblenching courage and unfailing conviction. OUR FOUR YEARS AT HOLY NAMES HAVE BEEN THE training period . . . the apprenticeship in the use of this sword of the spirit. Graduation will be the long awaited sign of the order of knighthood. We must disperse on our various quests, and like King Arthur's knights, we must travel the length and breadth of the land in our search. With EXCALIBUR shining and sharp-edged in our grasp, each of us must do battle with ignorance, fear, oppression, and injustice. We must remember the vows we pronounced, in spite of every difficulty we must follow wherever the King may lead us, if we have confidence we cannot fail. EXCALIBUR IS THE FIGURE OF THE IDEALS WE HAVE been given and the traditions we have been taught at HOLY NAMES.
