1672 Iciylls of Ye Classe of '49 OW IN THAT FALL or 'FORTY-FIVE THERE CAME To HOLY NAMES a brave, but green, young troupe Of pages, called by some, Cadets. And these Were marshalled in their drill by Sister jean Cecile and Sister Mary james and by Good Sister Peter Mary. Leading them in all Their fun were Donna Berens, Maudie, she Of Oeser,.and Patricia Griffin. Pat McCullough, Kathleen Brandmeir, and Elaine The Ryan molded them in holiness. November came and pages all did don Insignia of Sodalists. Then swift The days did fly until mid-year when jousts Were held and four did honorably deserve The prizes. March did shine upon the held At Garrigan when forth Cadets did go In tournament of baskets, but alas! 'Twas stoutly played, but Comets won the game. In farces the pages did excel, for Maude And Mary Lou, the Wyse, did play Return Of Martha and Dolly well. The summer passed. And then as Sophomores the pages did Return 'neath banner red and white, To bear again the tasks of learning set By Sister Miriam Carmel, Sister Francel- La Mary, Sister Marian Josephine. Elected from their fellows, Mary Ann The Sullivan, Joanne Tranel, .and last, Our Donna Berens planned the business That fell to the Cadets, while Mary joan O'Connell, Kathleen Brandmeir, Teresa Wil- Son were Consultors for Our Lady's Knights. The year was one of growth . . . recitals showed The pages' skill in music. Drills and jousts Grew e'er more difficult. Approaching now The state of squirehood, Donna Berens and Elaine Did win the right of voice in council. Kay And Terry did become high oiiicers In the Sodality. September came And all new squires did choose Cbeneath the care Of Sister Constance Clare and Sister Adele Maureen and Sister Clarisse Mariel as chiefs, Patricia Griffin, Betty Kiley and Estelle Champoux. To Christ through Mary they Were led by Mary Pleumer, Marilyn Of Gibbons, and by Mary Lou, the Wyse. With victory at S.C., gym, Apol- Ogetics Ryan won, and fantasy By Masqueraders quickly passed the time. Awaiting spurs, the squires now stand, now pause, Remembering their Hnal year. Elaine The Ryan, Kay Brandmeir, and Muggs LaCross Did lead the squires. Consultors three were Sue Of Conroy, Margie jones, and Barbara The Rogstad. Sister Tharsilla, Sister Is- Idorita, Sister Esther Mary now Have escorted them to knighthood's door, While Patty Frane and Nancy Williams and That Marilyn of Gibbons did urge on - With cheers the team to victory in volleyball. More plays, more speeches, and more Domes did pile Their glory to the skies. In silent watch They paused 'midst all festivities and thought Upon the battles they would iight as knights Against the foe. Now sad but eager, they, One night in May, will grasp their swords and bid Farewell and charge upon the battlefield. MARY JOAN O'CONNELL
