The following S e p te mb e r after this tough Sophomore struggle we began our Junior year. Although we had lost eight fel- low classmates, we gained two new students, Eleanora Johnson and Juanita Pressley. The class of '49 contributed two members to the armed forces, Tom Fenwick and Henry Payne. A great sacrifice was made by los- ing Richard Metzger to Saint Charles Sem- inary, Maryland. Sister Mary Scholastica was troubled with our burden until Thanksgiving when a sudden transformation gave us Sister Agnes de Sales. Then things really began popping, the first of which was a successful grease drive, then the class rings. Christmas came with a rushed and a beautiful Christmas program over WSON given by us after which a party awaited us at Robert Bohn's, with Tom Fenwick present as our honored guest. Returning to school on January 6, we start- ed the year of '48 with an abundance of res- olutions a few of which were kept. Examin- ations came and went and January was soon over. February came with the Seniors' Leap Year Party. Valentine day followed. Spring blossomed out with the Senior Play and the music recital while March and April flew by. May came along and we took the Seniors on a hayride and a wiener roast to Ijames' Lake. Then came the May Procession, fol- owed by the dreaded final examinations. Graduation again and as the class of '48 solemnly marched down the aisle, we pic- tured ourselves taking that long walk in .Tune '49, We closed awonderful Junior year with the graduation dance at the pavilion. Then the twenty sophisticated seniors, of '49 returned to the halls of Holy Name Sep- tember 8, the birthday of Our Blessed Lady, with happy hearts for this was to be our last year. Sister Eleanor, principal and home room teacher, was very anxious to teach from her new Chemistry book. Sister Agnes de Sales, ready for another trying year of commercials, welcomed us to our old places in her classroom. Sister Frances Rita and Sister Mary Scholastica were eager to get started with their Sociology and Spanish classes. Excitement ran high in the election of officers and the Freshman initiation' but the big event, to start the ball rolling, was a farewell party for Richard Metzger, who was returning to Saint Charles after the summer vacation. Too many things have happened to men- tion all, but some events will ever linger in our memories---practice for and the actual performance of our class play---our mar- velous class trip---the tour of Kentucky-- especially its historical and educational spots---and last, but not least, the wonder- ful May Procession honoring Our Blessed Mother and finally Graduation on June 10. This ends the history of the class of '49,
