And Bring Home A Trophy! The Crusaders of '55 after a dismal Start, losing the first six games in a row, finally began hitting on all 5 cylinders and reeled off a winning streak of 7 straight games, and ended up with a respectable 10-9 record. Sparked on their drive to the State Tournament by Ronnie Brillhart, and Dick Walls, the Crusaders defeated their arch rivals Marquette twice in Conference play. This year,s team was perhaps the best in the history of the school as they set 4 records: Most points in one game, most points by 1 player in a game, longest winning streak, and the first team in the history of the school to beat Marquette twice in l year. The games were highlighted by brilliant offensive play, sharp, defensive maneuvers, and above all a great team spirit. I 'i ,db THE BOYS LOOK OVER THE TROPHY Tournament At Oklahoma City, the Crusaders played Cascia Hall in the first round and when the gun sounded, they were on the long end of a 52-43 count. This was the first time 'Holy Family had beaten Cascia in basketball in 20 years. Ronnie Brillhart, almost singlehandedly towed the Crusaders through the game scoring 26 points, 11 in the last quarter. Holy Family and Marquette collided for the State Championship and after a hard played contest, Marquette was the victor: 53-46. It was a heartbreaking defeat for the gallant and spirited Cru- saders who won the last 6 Conference games in a row to get in the Tournaments. The team finished runner up, and we wish to say that a finer example of team play, over the whole season, has never been seen before at Holy Family. -113-
