,4,,.1 Sta!! 0 K' T' Zgx Xr The Home Nursing class is a new course added to the curriculum of Holy Family this year. It trains girls of high school age to be prepared for emergencies that may arise in the home, and better prepares them for the future when they themselves will be home- makers. It also serves as an introduction to nursing as a profession. Upper right: Miss Hattie Lymenstahl instructs Kathleen Currier, Marguerite Enbusk, jane Goggin, and Joann Nolterieke how to make swabs. Upper left: Ruth Logue, Sylvia Heidenry, jane Goggin, and Phyllis Nugent learn how to care for a bed patient. Left center: Pricking with a needle for the tuber- culin test doesn't hold many horrors for Luanne Kramer as her soph sisters await their turn. Lower left: Spirit runs high, competition keen when the grade school launches its paper drives. Eighth graders left to right: Rulie Vega, Leo Espinosa, Jim Lynch, Pat Dougherty, Jerry Sweiger, and john Crowe take a rest period before stacking the last truckload. Upper center: Jerry Kunz raises the flag presented to the school by the senior class. Grouped around the flag pole are Msgr. Breen, senior officers, and Boy Scouts, while Mr. R. M. Shepherd spoke of the advantages of democracy. Center: April showers bring May flowers . Members of the freshman class come equipped with umbrellas and rain coats for the frequent spring downpours. Senior Installation day opened senior activi- ties for the year. Pledges of loyalty, service, and devotion were given by the officers of the class. Lower center: Shown here is the class opening the program with the Loyalty Song , the new class song. Lower right: A trip to the Globe-Gazette was informational and interesting to the junior Maroon staff prior to their taking over the paper. They were met by Herb Frech who explained the various machines and conducted the tour. Mary Ann Beecher, Mary Dougherty, and Roger Katz watch the finished product come off the conveyor.
