wma HE Congregation of Sisters of Holy Famly of Nazareth completes seventy-five years of its existence. The celebration of this Diamond Jubilee is not alone one of retrospect and of commemoration, but also and principally one of prospect and of dedication. Three quarters of a century ago, the young Foundress of the Community, Mother Mary of Jesus lFrances Siedliskai came to the Eternal City with a handful of candidates for the infant Community. Sl-ie came there forti- fied with a rescript of Pope Pius IX which granted her permission ta found a new re- ligious family. She chose Rome and the Holy Year i875 in which to launch her plan. Her Community's mission, in its primary pur- pose, is akin to that of other religious fami- lies in the Church, namely, God's glory and sanctification of its members. Its secondary purpose is reparation for the sins of the world and prayers for the Church and for Christ's Vicar on earth. And it is the latter that brings the l95O Jubilee Year of the Church so very close to the heart of the Con- gregation in a new rededication to its estab- lished goal. Bust of the servant of God, Mother Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd iFrances Siedliskai, i842-l902. lt occupies a prominent place in the school's Shrine of Our Lady of 7 Czestochowa.

aftde 'tg in Me Zcwafcade af 76me I N THIS panorama ofthe story of seventy- five years of Community's progress, certain figures loom high: the chosen woman of God, Mother Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd, the Foundress, her successor and Superior General for over forty years, Mother Mary Laureta, the present Superior General since 1946, Mother Mary Bozena, and, in the Chicago province of the Congregation, Mother Mary Aloysius, the present Superior Pro- vincial. Spanning the seventy-five years ot the Com- munity's existence, these women of God typify three quarters of progress in spiritual and educational lite of the Congregation. The Very Reverend MOTHER MARY BOZENA, Superior General of the Sisters of Holy Family ot Nazareth. She resides in the motherhouse of the Community, Rome, Italy. 9
