Lux in Tennebris . . . Dear Graduates, tomorrow you will no longer be with us. You will have entered the great, mysterious expanse of the future. Yours will be a share in the historic movements of our age. In the elevating environment of a Catholic school, you have taken spark from Him VVho is the Light of the World. Guard that precious flame within your very being, and carry its pure brilliance, its life- sustaining warmth, into the hearts of men, women, and children-into the lowliest hovels as well as into tl1e abodes of commerce and wealth and excess. Streaming down the full length of your course, the light of Faith-- your divine heritage-shall illumine those vague, undefined situations that are bound to envolve from the multitudinous changes we now witness. The penetrating beams of revealed Truth, which here irra- diate your intellect, shall pierce every dense and dark doctrine that might lay siege to your most sacred motives. Like the prudent virgins, keep the lamp of your heart ever burning bright with honest zeal for your Creator ever filled with the oil par excellence of all-embracing charity for His creatures.
