When the Master of Nazareth uttered the solemn words, You are the salt of the earth, His eye penetrated the centuries ahead and rested with sweet predilection on the Graduates of l942. On YOU! Salt of the earth! To season, to preserve, to refresh-with the fervor and virtue of young Cath- olic womanhood . . . For our day presents an unhealthy drifting from the pure and lofty ideals, and a peculiar sympathy with what is spiritually de- formed and obscure. Fearless in your tenets, you will revive the ebbing faith of those vacillating between sublimity and transient profit. Through integrity and purity of life, you will inject new strength into the wilting, vitiated lives of others. Your cheerful loyalty to God-given laws will ignite a spark of light and love where discontent warped the heart. ln this great apostleship, be vigilant-lest your own buoyant spirit deterio- rate. Conserve its tone, continually replenish its mystic power at Christ's fount of graces.
