The work which will be accomplished in this seminary is that which is closest to the Heart of Christ. Over the main door of the seminary, you will read, The hope of the harvest lies in the planting . In this seminary the T seeds of the Divine Priesthood will be 'planted firmly in the genera- tions of boys not yet' born into the world. Here the heart of the priest will be fashioned after the Heart of the Divine Priest, while his mind and all the other faculties of his soul are enriched with the teachings of Christ's holy Church. i 1 As your Eishop,'I am unable to find language adequate to express my gratitude to Almighty God for permitting me to sponsor this noble work for the extension of His Kingdom in this corner of His Vineyard. lt is extremely difficult to select any group for recog- nition. T ' ,V P4 f 1 X HOLY CROSS SEMINARY LA cRossE, WISCONSIN July 27, 1951 To the Clergy and Laity of the Diocese of La Crosse: . The dedication day of Holy Cross Seminary is a jubilant one for all of us, since it brings to completion a work started four years ago -- a work made possible by your generous and selfless cooperation under the guidance of our Bishop. This building, however, is more than its structure, or beauty, or architecture suggests. It expresses your firm desire to make possible for your sons the oppor- tunity of following Christ in the work of the Priesthood among you. It is, then, a representation of your faith, your will, your part in perpetuating Christ's Priesthood in this section. of His Vineyard. We, who will live and work and pray in this Seminary, students and priests alike, will try to be just as generous in our efforts as you have been in yours. Our daily Masses will always contain a remembrance of you, whose sacrifice and devotion h ave made Holy Cross Seminary a reality. Sincerely in the Holy Cross, I S WGTY Rev. Msgrj Thomas F. Hayden Rector
