As we with joyous heart behold this festivity, we are overwhelmed with unbounded d d rment It is not yet three years ago that the first stone was laid with ti . ggzhrgroglsznandothz building begun, and behold! everyone hastens with joy in his heart to congratulate you on the completion of this undertaking. How truly remarkable and singular appears the strenuous work of Your Excellency! But just as admirable is the filial love of your clergy and of your flock towards you. Not only through their ardent affection but also through their great generosity and munlficence they have given you their most sustaining assistance. Their united and fervent efforts have hastened the time of its realization, in very fact, have shortened it by half, especially if one considers the outstanding characteristics of your seminary, which mark it as a magnificent, serviceable, beautiful and well-appointed building, suited to take care of all your needs. As this great day dawns, may We take occasion to offer you Our heartiest congratulations on this undertaking, so happily brought to completion. We regret very much that We are unable to convey in person Our good wishes to you in response to Your Excellency's kind invitation extended with that characteristic deference you have always shown Us. I shall be present in spirit and with me this Sacred Congregation as we contemplate the magnificent ceremony of dedication. We rejoice exceedingly that the Apostolic Delegate of Washington, D.C,, the Most Reverend Amleto G. Cicognani, will be with you to celebrate the solemnities of the day and that the renowned Archbishop of Boston will deliver the festive sermon. Like a crown, you will be surrounded by the illustrious prelates of Milwaukee, Dubuque and the Most Reverend Fulton J. Sheen who was recently raised to the episcopal dignity. We especially note that Your Excellency with significant foresight has invited the entire diocese to be present at the ceremony through the active participation in the liturgy of two thousand high school students and five thousand children and of five thousand women joining their voices in liturgical singing as the Holy Sacrifice is celebrated.
