But the friends we made, the times we shared, and those teachers who really cared changed all that. The people at Holy Cross are like a bowl of jambalaya-a melting pot of the Western Hemisphere. During 1972 many of us left our ethnic and intellectual cliques in search of acceptance by others of different, sometimes opposite environments. It was during this time of acceptance and rejection that we really dis- covered the nearness of those from other tribes, other cultures, other worlds, as well as our need to com- municate with them. .
