IS Q -ss Ha 1 M I' I.. ll sim-me Hz 1 N Christian education takes in the whole aggregate o f human life, physical and spiritual, intellectual and moral, individ- ual, domestic and social, not with a view of reducing it in any way, but in order to elevate, regulate and perfect it, in accord- ance with the example and teaching of Christ. -Pope Pius Xl. Christian Education of Youth PIRITUAL D E V E L P M E N T Holy Cross offers its students daily oppor- tunities for spiritual development. The school is privileged to have two chapels on the campus where the Blessed Sacrament is ever ready to he adored. From the Morning Offering said in the first period class until the Act of Contrition at the close of school, students are made aware of their Christian education. Religion classes offer them a spe- cial knowledge toward spiritual advance- ment. The annual retreat, confessions, and weekly Friday devotions are practical steps to a growth in virtue. A beautiful grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes offers a peaceful and convenient place for a fervent devotion to Mary. The Christian student takes advantage of these many opportunities for his spiritual development. -MM 1 2 'r sn TN TELLECTUAL E ELOPME 'l'l1mu51l1 llw Inlunm-ml l'lll'l'l1'lIllllll. llml' brow slllllt'lIla nun t'XIN'I'll'lll'Q' llltvllc-vlllail ll:-wlupnm-Ill. :M young rllltlvlllr. llwy lla Llll l'lilN5l'N lll llll' l.UXNl'l' 5l'll0Ul lllll lill- mm-wl to llu- l ppm' N-lmnl upon re'1u'l1ll151 ilu- ll'lllll grgulv. 'aff PHYSICAL DEVELOP Another vital part in the eduvation of Holy Cross students is eonsidered in their physical development. This phase of formation extends from the physieal edueation elasses in the sehoolis schedule through the intramural and junior varsity programs. to varsity prep sports. At Holy Cross. the athleties are organized under the supervision of eompetent 4-oaehes and they are earried on throughout the sehool year and the summer. The entire program is sutlieiently diversified to offer students the type of sports that are good for them and that they like lrest. Its purposes are for good health. to teach students to get along well with others. for the good use of leisure time and to show the manly way to win and lose. The Holy Cross student realizes that his sehool has organized an exeellent program for his physival development. .wqvw .-4,,A MW ,sums mg V- F , H., V 4.83 A . C.S.C. BROTHER REINALD DURAN, C.S.C. HEADMASTER Brother Heinald Duran, C.S.C., is now com- pleting his second year as Headmaster of Holy Cross. Under his distinguished leadership, countless improvements have been made for the benefit of the students. This year, Brother Reinald revised the cur- ruculum with great wisdom and forethought. He has improved the physical structure of the campus for greater facilities to the benefit of all. Recently, Brother initiated a new informa- tional prcgram of lectures for seniors on tho major professions. This is but another example of his interest in the future of Holy Cross stu' dents. A clear understanding of Brother Reinalcls work as Headmaster must also take into con- sideration his round-the-clock duties since Holy Cross is likewise a resident school. He is frequently called upon to handle matters long after the regular dismissal bell has rung. BROTHER SALVATOR ESPOSITO, C.S.C. ASSISTANT HEADMASTER DIRECTOR OF STUDIES REV. PATRICK HAGGERTY, C.S.C.
