l Principal's Message The Year 1975-1976 To the Class of '76 During the course of the past four years, your ex- periences at Holy Cross have been numerous and var- ious. Each of you has achieved new insights about yourself, others, society and God. Hopefully you are able to grasp a fraction of the wisdom contained in the following utterance of the philosopher Aristotle: The unexamined life is not worth living. In the days, months and years ahead, when you think about the value of life and your experiences, you will be reflecting the full worth of your Holy Cross education. Your parents sacrificed some things in order to provide you the advantage of a Catholic education in the hope that you would be bet- ter able to examine life with a Christian perspective and to seek to solve life's problems with the added insights gained from a value centered education. In addition to all the courses which you have taken, the real worth of your four years at Holy Cross will be seen in your commitment to question the quality of your life in light of your life in Christ. Your ultimate success in life will be judged solely in terms of your response to Him. In order for this response to be real and valuable you have to consciously examine your life and be willing to make the needed changes. Your generation faces some real challenges. As you move ahead in this age of speed, efficiency and technological progress, you will be facing new chal- lenges of safeguarding the dignity of the human per- son. Our hope for you is that you will work to main- tain the balance - the integration, between our so- ciety's concern for efficiency and the more important Christian concern for examining the quality of the life we live. Your education has helped to prepare you to meet these various challenges but you must realize that the preparation is developmental - it is on- going and it must continue. Our final hope for you is that you will always seek the truth and live the examined life. YALL, 0.1- ef! i . xi: ,, jf' ' ' ' E fgiiie 3: l ll l. .A f 9 l . ...A 5 9 i sw?
