Since its inception, the Department of Eine Arts has endeavored to promote the ex- pression of talent within the field of art. The introduction of students to the various media and techniques incorporated in arts and ceramics has been the principal aim of the department. The classes in art are separated into two divisions, a beginners and an advanced pro- gram. Those in the beginners program are taught the basic fundamentals, and work with a variety of mediadpencil, pen and ink, pastels, tempera and water color. Ceramics and 'working with oil paints are the concentrated occupations of the advanced students. They are fortunate to have complete ceramic facilities at their disposal. Through the department, posters to advertize various activities in the school are pro- duced and displayed. Although Mechanical Drawing is more properly situated in the Mathematics Depart- ment, it has been incorporated into this section of the yearbook because of the nature of the skill it employs, and the patient, artistic demands it imposes on its students.
