Full consideration is given to the various needs of individual groupings of students in the school. For those who wish to enter some scientific field in their college studies, a regular preparatory curriculum of four years of high school mathematics has been set up. However, a new innovation also comes into being in the Senior year. This is an extra class in mathematics, for the scientific stu- dent, and is a survey course in Analytic Geometry and Differential and Integral Calculus. This course lays the groundwork upon which is built the more advanced mathematical and scientific prin- ciples advanced in the college curriculum. Those entering college for a normal liberal arts course are also prepared, not only in course re- quirement, but with a true knowledge and understanding of the logic and structure of the.mathe- matical systems. For those students who plan to continue in science or engineering, it provides a solid foundation upon which they can build their future careers. For those interested in other fields, it gives them a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the world around them. The curriculum has been designed to provide the fundamentals of the three main fields of science: life science, physical science, and earth science. For this purpose, courses in biology, physics, and chemistry are offered. Recognizing the fact that education is also extracurricular, the Science Department has established several clubs as a supplement to the classrooms. Science is an effort to see as deeply as possible into the nature of the physical world, to understand the relationships among the phenomena of nature. Today science is one of the most exciting of human activi- ties because of the rapidity with which it is providing new insights and affecting human culture. The cur- riculum of the Science Department reflects an appreciation of this fact. The following teachers of General Science, who are pictured elsewhere are: Bro. joseph Dunne and Bro. Thomas Burns.
