C. C. D. I il l 'Q Ili at Work The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine is true C. 'HUC Action-the participation of the laity in the work of the hier- archy. It is an organized mobilization of the potential manpower of the Catholic laity under direct control and supervision by the hierarchy to fulfill the command of Christ to Go forth and teach all nations. The primary purpose of the C.C.D. is the personal sanctifica- tion of the members through work and sacrifice for Christ. The secondary purpose is the more effective instruction of the chil- dren and parents of each parish in their religion. This enlistment of the help of the laity in teaching Catholic doctrine is no reflection on either the ability or the devotion of our priests and religious or their holy vocations. It is a realistic fact that there are not enough priests and religious to do the job by themselves. What is needed is an aroused laity, the C.C.D., fully aware of their status as active members of the Mystical Body, and working with their priests to bring souls to Christ. 1 f y ' I 6
