I I ' Another year has gone, fading into the past. It goes, yet leaves us memories of all the occasions and people at Holton High. Perhaps the easiest thing to remember will be the actions and expressions of everyone. They explain circumstances when captured by a picture— I - «. ; ik v g The puzzled face of a confused student, the frowning face of a teacher, the laughing, excited faces of victory, or the crying dismal faces of a narrow defeat. We were packed and jammed within those walls where tempers sometimes flared, yet friendships were usually found. It will be easy, it seems, to remember the faces ofH. H. S. Among the programs which have been initiated this year is one in which the faculty members in each area of study meet with our school board members in order to discuss teaching goals and philosophies, textbooks, and grading systems. Through this program the board and teachers have the oppor- tunity to meet and learn about each other. Mr. Raymor, our superintendent, coordinates the business and activities of the schools. Enthusiasm into Victory Our pep assemblies and game crowds are reflecting the increasing enthusiasm of our cheerleaders. Under the direction of Mrs. Peters, the new Physical Educa- tion Teacher, they are learning new methods of cheer- ing and chanting. They are eager to show us the new ideas they learned from the annual workshop which they attended. Decked out in the new uniforms they purchased with money earned from selling popcorn during the games, they lead H. H. S. Spectators to a great way of cheering on our team. T. Newell at the top, K. Kruszynski, P. Hays, J. Blamer, C. Hager, M. Wyant, and D. Hunt are the J. V. Cheerleaders. Cheerleaders urge the crowds into cheering. H. J. H. Has Its Perky Leaders Also L. Football Starts the Season with Mud and Action There are four seasons in a year. Winter brings the snow, spring the buds, summer the warmth, but only autumn brings the excitement and fury of the N.C.A.A. football season. Cheering crowds of H.H.S. students shiver in the cold night air as 11 of our boys, bearing the Devils ' red and white, fight relentlessly for a victory for our school. Mr. Rossiter, left, coaches the varsity team, assisted by Mr. Gam, below, and Mr. Engstrom trains the junior varsity. Our teams were unfortunate this year with a no win season. Nevertheless, our spirits remain high and our pride never faulters. Our Football Squads Play Hard to Give H.H.S. A Thrilling Season Junior Varsity: Top row — Mr. Engstrom, R. Rinhart, J. Johnston, S. As the winter weather approaches, H.H.S. moves indoors to challenge conference teams in the tense and fast moving game of Basketball. This year our seventh grade team, coached by Mr. Nielsen, won 3 games and lost 7. The eighth graders, also under Mr. Nielsen, had an outstanding season with 8 wins to only 3 losses which put them runners up in the Tri-County tournament and winners of a trophy. The Junior Varsity team coached by Mr. Rossiter won only one of the 16 games played while the Varsity players, coached by Mr. Nelson, made 7 wins to 9 losses. All in all, we are proud of the tremendous effort put forth by our boys for a great season. Mr. Nelson, Head Coach, congratulates his assistant, Frank McMeans. Varsity: Top Row — R. Shappee, R. Sealed Power Corporation recently announced to the High Performance Engine market a new piston and ring arrange- ment. The placement of a Head Land on a specially machined piston is the newest addition to Sealed Power ' s Speed- Pro line of high performance engine parts. The Head Mand ring promises the speed enthusiast more competitive power per gallon of fuel as well as longer ring and engine life. Key elements of the Head Land ring ' s action are its elevated position on the piston, its L shape and its means of sealing. Located only 1 16 of an inch down from the piston head, the Head Land ring confines fuel gasses to the combustion chamber, thereby promoting more complete combustion — or more power per gallon of fuel. Most conventional rings cannot be located as high up because, having built-in tension, they are subject to failure at combustion temperatures. To meet the challenge of modern industry, Sealed Power needs able employees in all phases of our operation. Whether you plan to continue your education or seek immediate employment, may we offer . . . Head Land Ring Conventional Ring -c ISi, — -] Congratulations!
