FOREWORD The sands of time have run out on our days at Holston Valley High School and we must now turn to the future. This, the 1965 issue of THE CRITERION marks the end of an important phase of our lives . The scholastic challenges have enabled us to become better students to be pre- pared for a more successful future . Socially our interests were broadened and the many opportunities afforded us have enriched our lives . To you, the students and faculty of 1964-65, we, The Criterion Staff, offer this Yearbook as a record of our last year at Holston Valley High School. 9

FOREWORD Our lifes, like the fashions and styles of today, are in a state of constant change. Looking back over our four years in high school, we can recall many momentous changes in our lives each year: our teachers, our school, our interests, our activities, -- all have changed. We also have learned values that do NOT change over the years -- knowl- edge, morals, and deep friendships. And having once passed through that DOOR, love, honor, and lasting respect for our Alma Mater is so deeply engraved in our hearts it NEVER changes. 8
