LAST WILL AND TLSTLMQNY Q We, the class of 1947 of Holston Valley High School, do hereby make and declare this to be our last will and testament, in form and manner as follows: To our beloved school we leave the memories of the glorious years we have spent here and urge those who follow us to hold high our stand- ards and ideals. To our faculty, we leave our deepest gratitude for the cooperation they have given us and the patience and understanding they have had with us. To our beloved sponsor, Miss Jones, we leave the many thanks for the patience and understanding she has had with us, and for her earnest labors. And now we approach our personal possessions which we bestow to individuals of the Junior Class. I, Nell Stewart, bequeath my quiet, retiring'personality and dimples to Eleanor Comer. We, Glenn Carrier and Luther Wolfe, leave our good looks that appeal to the fairer sex to Fred Booher. I, Anne Peters, leave my ability to string them up to my sister, Jean. I, Edwin Flick, leave my way with the women to R. C. Reece. I, Gloria Houser, leave a portion of my school spirit to Ivelean Sluder. We, Cora Vance and Betty Glover, bequeath the rays of sunshine in our dispositions and our smirks to Myrtle Jones! ! ! !! I, Arizona Potts, leave my low, husky voice to Betty Hunigan hoping she will use it in the Harmony Club. I, Bonnie Phipps, leave some of my excess weight to Lorraine Houser????? I, Gene Lowry, leave my unbelievable high average to Betty Smithson??? I, Elizabeth Morrell, leave my business-like attitude to Vergie Arnold. I, Gene Morrell, will- ingly leave my manly-physique to Chester Smith . . . ? We, Clara Bains and Jean Gray, bequeath our figures to Aileen Hatcher. I, Margie Nell Hayes, leave my crown and qufeenly manners to any girl in the Junior Class who can earn them. I, Chester South, leave some of my best jokes to Carroll Hatcher. We, Wayne Carrier, Minnie Lee Carrier, Mary Lynn Carrier and Wesley Carrier, leave it up to Jiles Carrier to hold the Carrier name high. We, Louise Calhoun, Leona Rice, and Anna Lee Shipley, leave our winning smiles to Dora Belle Rutherford. I, Bruce Pickle, leave my sly wink to Earl Wright and Haskell Morrell. I, Leo Rutherford, leave my size thirteen shoes to Jack Sells, and my six foot three inches height to Gene Gross. May they live up to them! CLASS PCDEM We live for those that love us, For those. that know we're true, For the heaven that shines above us, And awaits our coming, too. We're the Seniors of Holston Valley And have tried to do our best, But we know the ones who follow For the school will do the rest. Now Gloria, she's a Houser, one with zip and full of pep Always faithful, always trying, but sometimes out of step. When it comes to athletics Betty Bunn's just like a boy For the things that she believes in are the things that all enjoy. Although she's gone and left him he hopes to meet her soon, It's Wesley Carrier who misses her, especially during noon. A friend in need is a friend indeed, as that old adage tells you, So let Anna Lee know your wants when you've anything to do. A Carrier here and a Carrier there, just like the stars in the sky And Wayne never changes, not even the glint that's in his eye. Cora Vance is a wonder, she always knows what's best, She's good in all her classes and makes 100's on her test. Does Chester South want to go to college or is it College Street? Any time you pass that way, out the door stick his feet. Bonnie Phipps is little but she always gets around, And no matter where you see her she never has a frown. We have one boy in the Senior class who probably will never marry He's good in his books, they say, so he must be Gene Lowry. Jean Gray has lots of callers and all are very quiet She very seldom sees them except on Sunday night. Eugene Morrell lives on a farm and works both night and day, He feeds the chickens, milks the cows, and then he hits the hay. Mary Lynn Carrier is much in love, you can tell that by her dress, We hope her troubles are little ones that will prove a great success
